WEDNESDAY, JAN. 14

Free Diabetic Teaching will be offered in the Burke Medical Center classroom, 6-8 p.m. The course is designed to help diabetics learn how to better control their diabetes through healthy eating. Participants should eat before they come and are encouraged to bring along their partners or anyone who helps with food preparation. Space is limited and preregistration is encouraged. SATURDAY, JAN. 17

Free Lunch will be served at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.. Anyone who needs a meal is welcome. Bags of groceries will be available on a first-comefirst served basis.

SATURDAY, JAN. 17 & SUNDAY, JAN. 18

Amateur “Ham” Radio Courses and Licensing will be held at the Citizens Park Gymnasium in Waynesboro. The free twoday license preparation course is sponsored by the Burke Amateur Radio Club (BARC) and will meet, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Sunday. Walk-in exams for radio licenses ($15 per test) will begin at 3 p.m., Sunday. Tests are available for three license classes: Technician; General; and Amateur Extra. MONDAY, JAN. 19

The Civil War Round Table of Augusta will meet at The Snelling Center at the Goodwill Complex, 3165 Washington Rd. in Augusta. Supper is at 6 p.m. (Dutch treat). Tom Elmore, author of A Carnival of Destruction – Sherman’s Invasion of South Carolina, will present on the Battle of Columbia. Membership is $25 per year individual/$40 couple. Guests are welcome and membership is open to anyone.

TUESDAY, JAN. 20

Burke County Middle School will host a parent meeting, 5:30 p.m., Tuesday Jan. 20, to discuss the new assessment, Georgia Milestones. For more information, contact parent coordinator Jeanette Lovett, 706-554-3532.

The Waynesboro Lions Club will meet, 5:30 p.m., at The Lakeview Restaurant. All members and those interested are encouraged to attend.
