The Waynesboro Police Department arrested and charged Andrew Farmer with stealing 35 packs of cigarettes from the 6th Street Dollar General Monday.
A burglar alarm alerted officers to activity at the store around 4:15 a.m. At the scene, officers found the front door’s glass had been broken along with glass on the cigarette case. While conducting a search around the area of Magnolia Apartments, officers noticed Farmer carrying a red cooler containing cigarettes and a yellow hammer. Farmer led officers on a foot pursuit down W. 8th Street before he was apprehended and charged with burglary.
