Subway sponsors kids’ fitness contest

Free food!

Local Subway restaurants are part of a back-to-school contest that rewards kids with free food and a chance at winning a $1,000 fitness grant for their schools.

With nearly one-third of American children either overweight or obese, the eatery is challenging Burke County youth to eat healthier and get more exercise. To track their food and activity choices, students ages 5-14 can enter Subway’s Fresh Start Challenge.

The challenge ends Sept. 30, and kids who mail in their entry forms will receive a coupon for a free FRESH FIT kid’s meal or a sixinch sub. Two students in the CSRA will receive sub parties for their entire classes and the $1,000 school grants.

Entry forms may be picked up at the South Liberty Street and Walmart Subways in Waynesboro or online at subwayfreshstart.com.
