Squatter found with meth in abandoned home

Donald Silas was arrested Monday, October 31 for possession of methamphetamine and criminal trespass after admitting he had stayed at an abandoned home on Blythe Road “off and on” for the past year.

Owner Ted West told deputies days earlier that no one had permission to reside at the home and informed them that he wanted to prosecute anyone found on the property.

Deputies found Silas exiting the front door as they arrived at the home. When deputies went to retrieve a jacket from the house, they noticed methamphetamine located on a piece of burned aluminum foil, along with a lighter and a straw located next to an air mattress. Also, located in the same room was a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance.
