Spartan Rock is Friday

Edmund Burke Academy students are bringing their talents to the stage in an effort to help raise money for their school.

This Friday, March 1, EBA will hold its annual Spartan Rock Auction and Talent Show at the Burke County Office Park Auditorium in Waynesboro.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with students showcasing their various talents beginning at 6. While attendees browse silent and live auction items from 7-7:45, they’ll be treated to heavy hors d’oeuvres from Finely Seasoned Catering and music by Jason White.

Approximately 150 items donated by businesses throughout the local community and beyond are featured in the silent auction, including everything from gift certificates to goody baskets stuffed with food, skincare products and hunting and fishing supplies, just to name a few. There will also be custom built furniture, a drone, Costa sunglasses, a gas smoker, a mountain getaway and a trip to Tuscany, Italy, up for grabs.

“Last year, we were able to raise an incredible amount for our school,” said EBA parent volunteer Kelli Dixon Chandler, as she shuttled and organized the growing stacks of donations. “Our community is so supportive, and our parents and students work so hard to pull this off every year. We are so thankful for everyone who contributes their time, efforts, products and services to this great cause.” She added that supporters will also be able to bid on items students in the environmental science class hand-crafted from recycled objects.

The live auction, led by auctioneer and EBA parent Lester Post, will begin at 7:45 featuring special items donated by each class at Edmund Burke. The silent auction will conclude at 9.

Tickets to Spartan Rock are $15 at the door, and all proceeds benefit EBA’s general improvement fund.

“Please come be a part of Spartan Rock,” parent Melanie Jenkins added. “Bid on some items and watch our talented students as they put on a great show.”

Items for the auction may be viewed on the 2019 Spartan Rock Facebook page.

Online bidding begins Friday morning at 7 a.m.
