Myrtle Dixon Herrington

Myrtle Dixon Herrington, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 8, 2019. She was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro.

She was full of life, with an infectious “giggle” and a sweet spirit. God’s love could literally be felt through her unconditional love for her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Myrtle had a joy for carefree and snappy music and loved to “cut the rug”. She enjoyed getting her hair fixed on Thursdays and going out to eat, while talking and visiting with others. Her love for jewelry, dressing up, and “looking pretty” was also a part of what made her special.

In memory of our Mama, we ask that you show unconditional love and share a laugh with others you meet each day.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold “Bo” Herrington, Sr.; a son, Hal Herrington, Jr.; and a daughter, Melody Ann Herrington.

She is survived by her two sons, Rex Herrington and Steve Herrington both of Waynesboro; a daughter, Dianne H. Quick (Mark) of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, David Herrington, Ciara Herrington, Ashley Herrington, and Shelby Quick; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 11 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 11a.m. Thursday, December 12 in the DeLoach-McKerley- Prescott Chapel with Rev. Matt Wigley officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Mike Smith, Randy Smith, Michael McKinney, Mark Dixon, David Herrington, Larry Lythgoe, and Mark Quick.
