Doris Ivester Cochran, 95, of Waynesboro died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006 at Bethany Nursing Home in Vidalia.

Family visitation will be 11 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Jan. 4, at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Burke Memorial Gardens with Dr. G. Al Wright officiating.

Mrs. Cochran was a native of Siloam and a resident of Waynesboro the greater part of her life. She was the daughter of the late Pink Leo Ivester and Ruth Irby Ivester of Waynesboro. Her husband of 52 years, George Lawrence Cochran, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Cochran was a devoted homemaker and a member of Waynesboro First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and an active member of the WMU for many years. She was a member of the Club of Little Gardens and the Pink Ladies Auxiliary of the Burke County Hospital. She was an avid china painter and enjoyed sharing her talent with her friends and family.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy Cochran Herrington and Carroll (Khaki) Herrington of Statesboro; her son and daughter in-law, Richard Irby Cochran and Gloria C. Cochran of Waynesboro; a sister, Winnie Ivester Rogers of Waynesboro; granddaughters, Kathy Herrington DeLoach and Julie Cochran Ruffo; and greatgrandchildren, Matthew DeLoach, Adam DeLoach, Bailey Ruffo and Ashley Ruffo, all of Statesboro.
