Mr. Olin M. Blackstone Sr.




 

 

Mr. Olin M. Blackstone Sr., 82, of Waynesboro, beloved husband and father, born in Richmond County on April 26, 1924 to the late William McKinley and Annie Inglett Blackstone, entered into rest Dec. 27, 2006 at the VA Medical Center in Augusta. He was a retired spotwelder from Thermo-King Corp, a former dairy worker, a WWII Army veteran and a member of Rosemont Heights Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Rosemont Heights Baptist Church with the Revs. Keith Alderman and Earl Saxon officiating. Interment followed at Burke Memorial Gardens.

The family received friends 6- 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Myrtle Lee Herndon Blackstone; five children, Barbara Lariscy, Olin Blackstone Jr. and Cynthia Blackstone, all of Waynesboro, James (Carol) Blackstone of Hephzibah and Jennifer (Dana) VanCise of Augusta; two grandsons, Christopher Lariscy of Duluth and Dalton Blackstone of Hephzibah; one sister, Donnie Bell Bolton of Gibson; three brothers, Clifford Blackstone of San Antonio, Texas, Lloyd Blackstone of Gibson and Francis Blackstone of Crete, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

Pallbearers were Joe Lariscy, Carl Anderson Jr., Larry Herndon, Arlon Herndon, Rusty Eskew and Mike Chance. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Bill Stephens Sunday School Class at Rosemont Heights Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Rosemont Heights Baptist Church Vision Fund, 710 Stone Ave., Waynesboro, GA 30830.
