Local man arrested for Richmond murder

A Sardis man has been arrested in connection to a Memorial Day murder.

Kevin Lee Stewart, 34, was arrested last Tuesday as one of four men charged with the shooting death of James Robinson, a 34-year-old Augustan and father of seven.

According to reports, the shooting occurred just after 2 p.m. on Monday, May 29, at the 4200 block of Deans Bridge Road in Hephzibah. Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said Robinson died of a single gunshot wound.

Stewart, along with James Leroy Dandy, 34, of Graniteville, S.C., Corie Rawkwon Simpson, 21, of Augusta, and Kyle Christopher Simpson, 17, of Augusta, is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Dandy was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and Corie Simpson was additionally charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony order to show cause. No information has been released as to what caused the shooting.
