Lady Spartans place 2nd in track meet


The Lady Spartan Track Team, coached by Monika Mobley, is off to a great start by placing 2nd among the 7 teams who competed at Bulloch Academy on Wednesday, March 2.

Triple-A Pinewood Christian placed 1st with 168 points, followed by the Lady Spartans with 138. Bulloch Academy (also Triple-A) finished in 3rd with 120 points, and Robert Toombs placed 4th with 110.

The following 10 girls earned points for the Lady Spartans: Freshman Kensy Felix and 8th grader Leila Eastmead with 23.25 points each; Sophomore Hannah Posey with 21 points; Freshmen Payton Palmer, Braelyn Reeves, and Ellee Mobley with 18.25, 16.25, and 11 points, respectively; Junior Kelsey Jaquess with 10; Freshmen Addison Riggs and Carleigh Woods with 9 and 5, respectively. Sophomore Kallie Dailey, who is still recovering from an injury, added one point for the Lady Spartans.

Kensy Felix had two 1st place finishes (3200 & 800); Leila Eastmead had two 2nd place finishes (long jump and triple jump); Hannah Posey placed 1st in the 1600; Braelyn Reeves finished 1st in the high jump, tying the school record of 5’1” (held previously by Ashleigh Jaquess who is volunteering to help Braelyn Reeves and Payton Palmer); and Ellee Mobley placed 2nd in the discus. The 1600-meter relay team of Reeves, Eastmead, Palmer, and Felix finished 2nd.
