Our dear mother, Joanne Catherine Sharpe Swan peacefully entered into rest on December 17, 2022. She is now with the Lord and reunited with the love of her life, husband Alex Taylor Swan, Jr.
Joanne was born and grew up in the Shell Bluff Community of Burke County, Georgia as the daughter of Milledge Charles Sharpe and Vera Catherine Hall Sharpe. She was a faithful member of Rosemont Baptist Church and the Grace Sunday School class for many years. Joanne worked at First National Bank of Waynesboro for 40 years. She always provided support and love for her family, and worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for her kids and grandkids. Joanne was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community, both in Waynesboro, Georgia and Elberton, Georgia.
Survivors include her son, Alex Taylor Swan, III (Jennifer) of Cartersville, Georgia; daughter, Sara Catherine Swan Cone (Jimmy) of Elberton, Georgia; daughter, Amy Elizabeth Swan Fleming (Jeff) of Buford, Georgia; and her pride and joy, her seven grandchildren: Alex, Ethan, Eli, Isabella, Emberleigh, Grayson, and Wren; as well as many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 5-7 pm at Rosemont Baptist Church, 522 U.S. Hwy. 25, Waynesboro, Georgia 30830.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Joanne Swan will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Rosemont Baptist Church with interment following at Ways Baptist Church cemetery in Stellaville, Georgia.
