Jerry Lee Lewis Sr., 64, of Waynesboro, Georgia passed away unexpectedly November 4 in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
A lifelong resident of Georgia, Jerry was born in Waynesboro to Edward and Effie Bell Lewis. He went on to graduate from Burke County High School and later settled in Augusta where he raised his family and worked as an electrician. Jerry’s work with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) took him all over the country but he primarily worked in Georgia and South Carolina throughout his career.
Jerry was a family man. He took pride in raising his children and supporting them throughout every step of their lives. He frequently visited Chelsea and Jerry Jr. in Atlanta and shared his hobbies and passions with them. Jerry was an avid fan of all Georgia sports. He worked at Augusta National as a broadcast engineer during The Masters, every year, since the early 2000’s. Jerry was also a lifelong Atlanta Falcons super fan.
Jerry is survived by his former wife, Marcia Hudson and their children, Chelsea Maria Lewis of Lawrenceville and Jerry Lee Lewis Jr. of Atlanta. He is also survived by his sister Emma Godbee of Riverdale; two brothers, Julian (Patricia) Lewis of Waynesboro and Michael (Carla) Lewis of Bonaire; one sister-in-law, Linda Lewis of Atlanta, along with a host of nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. He will be laid to rest during a memorial service at Phinazee & Son Funeral Home of Waynesboro, Georgia.
