Homeland Security contacts the BCSO




Twenty-three vials of a prohibited drug were seized from a home on Hwy 23 South after the Burke County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Department of Homeland Security.

Special Agent Lopez notified the BCSO June 13 that several fertility-type drugs, prohibited by the FDA, were shipped from Istanbul, Turkey to the Burke County home. The resident told officers she did not realize they were prohibited. Twenty-three vials of Meriofert 75 IU, a menopausal medication containing human follicle and a human hormone were seized. Additionally, two ampoules of Choriomon 5000 IU, an injected medication used to stimulate the ovaries were seized and will be turned over to Homeland Security.
