Help “Save the Lake”

Waynesboro residents are raising money and awareness to help restore Jones Lake. Mayor Pauline Jenkins, at right, has signed a proclamation declaring Saturday, May 26 “Save the Lake” Day, and community volunteers like Nan Lynch, left, are organizing a 5-K run and outdoor concert to raise funds to treat algae growth and other problems threatening the health of the lake. The day will start with an 8 a.m. “Loop the Lake” run and walk that will begin at the American Legion and course through the Spring Valley and Lake Bluff neighborhoods. Early registration is $20 and applications are available on the “Save the Lake – Waynesboro, GA” facebook page or by emailing [email protected] night, the Swingin Medallions will perform a benefit concert at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds.
