Hart Dairy chooses option 1

Burke County residents should see movement this summer on the Hart Dairy property, situated off Burke Veterans Blvd.

After an executive session Tuesday, April 23, the Development Authority of Burke County voted to enter a Reinstatement and Forbearance Agreement with Hart Dairy. According to DABC Executive Director, Austin Stacy, Hart Dairy has chosen option 1 of the agreement.

This means Hart Dairy agreed to buy the option tract behind their current lot and begin construction on their current lot by June 30. However, if both requirements are not met by June 30, the DABC can still authorize their right to buy back the building and the land from Hart Dairy for the original cost minus expenses. Even if the two requirements are met, Hart Dairy has until June 30, 2026, to finish construction and employ 15 full time employees onsite. If Hart Dairy fails to meet all the requirements, the DABC will authorize their right to buy back the building and the land from Hart Dairy for the original costs minus expenses.

The second option gave the DABC the right to buy back the building and the land from Hart Dairy for the original cost less expenses on or before June 30, 2024.
