Dylan Dixon was clutch at the plate with ducks on the pond on Friday, driving in four on two hits to lead the Burke County Varsity Bears past Cross Creek 21-1 on Friday. Dixon drove in runs on a single in the third, a double in the fourth, and a walk in the fifth.
BCHS got on the board in the first inning when Marshall Flowers’s sac fly scored one run for the Bears.
Burke County notched seven runs in the fifth inning. Bears batters contributing to the big inning included Aiden Roberson, Jahkari Howard, Dixon, Myles Heatwole, Flowers, and Beckam Ramirez, who all drove in runs.
Phillip Hodges took the win for Burke County Varsity Bears. The hurler lasted five innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out six.
Kaleb Joyner led things off on the hill for Cross Creek. The hurler surrendered 14 runs on seven hits over three and a third innings, striking out two. Landyn Newman threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Burke County scattered nine hits in the game. Dixon and Jaidyn Foster each managed multiple hits for the Bears. Foster and Dixon each collected two hits.
Brock Madden went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Cross Creek in hits.
