It’s been decades since the former Burke County Library doors were open to the public, and in recent years the building has been used as storage for Burke Medical Center.

Burke Hospital Company is repurposing a building formerly used as the county library.

As part of a comprehensive plan to upgrade the hospital facilities and bring in new services, renovations have begun to convert the former library building on 4th Street for Burke Therapy (formerly Burke Medical Center Rehabilitation), which currently offers physical, occupational, and speech therapies.

The layout and abundant space of the facility is the perfect venue for a therapy clinic and will be able to accommodate the hospital’s need to serve more patients as the orthopedics, sports medicine and cardiovascular programs expand.

Along with the opening of the new facility, Burke Therapy will also be offering cardiac rehab. For the first time in our community, patients that have experienced, heart attack, heart failure, angioplasty, or heart surgery, will have access to a medically supervised program to improve their cardiovascular health.

More information will be provided as the project nears completion.
