Five Burke County High School students, who are following the engineering pathway, visited Georgia Power recently, where they spent the day with distribution engineers Zach Bartlett and Justin Lee and distribution supervisor Paul Vaught. The three men spent time sharing their work experiences and also gave the students the opportunity to ask questions. Students learned what a distribution engineer does for Georgia Power and how engineers and line crews work together to serve their customers. “I’m hoping that other businesses will read this article and offer the same opportunity to more students,” said Suzanne Sharkey, Vogtle Community Information Coordinator, Georgia Power Company. “This is a great group of students and it was a pleasure having them with us.” Pictured from left are Logan Moore, Bartlett, Marcello Snelling, Robert Gilchrist, Jalen Johnson, Larry Preston and Sandra Johnson, who serves as the engineering technology teacher.
