EMA Chief says at least 11 homes destroyed, 4 injured




Burke County EMA Chief Rusty Sanders reports that 8 homes and three mobile homes were completely destroyed by the Friday night tornado.

 Another four homes were severely damaged, and 11 were affected or had minor damage of some sort.

A &A Minute Mart was completely destroyed, he said, and Mizell Ford has major damage

Chief Sanders confirmed that a Thomas Road man was critically injured and another three people, including a child, suffered non life-threatening injuries.

The tornado ripped through Burke County around 11:50 p.m. last night, cutting a path from Highway 80 at Noah’s Ark church across the northern Waynesboro city limits and then toward Plant Vogtle.
