EBA tallies second win

 

 

The Edmund Burke Academy Varsity Football team moved to a 2-0 season Friday night, with a 47-3 win against Trinity Christian School of Dublin at Rogers Field. The Spartans got off to a fast start when Grant Mobley connected with Braydon Tindell for a 7- yard touchdown pass. The Spartans scored on their next possession with Ayden Phillips’ 4- yard touchdown run. Mobley found Owen Redd for the third Spartan score on a 53- yard touchdown play. Connor Syms closed out the first half scoring with a 6- yard touchdown run. The Spartan offense stayed hot in the second half starting with a 12- yard touchdown run by Mobley. Phillips rushed 34 yards for another score in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Maddox Lee reached the end zone for the final Spartan score with a 2- yard run. The Spartan defense dominated the Trinity’s option offense, holding them to negative eight yards rushing and forcing four turnovers in the evening. Overall, several Spartans had big nights. Mobley had 94 yards rushing with 1 touchdown and 192 yards passing and for two more. Phillips had 79 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns. Redd had five catches for 128 yards and one touchdown. McClellan had four tackles, a force fumble and a sack. Kade

McGill had eight tackles and one tackle for a loss. Syms had five tackles, two tackles for a loss and one sack. Parker Oliver had six tackles, one tackle for a loss and a sack.

The Spartans are off next week and then hit the road on September 15 when they travel to Piedmont Academy.
