The Burke County Sherriff’s Office responded to a call Tuesday, March 15 involving laced candy given out at the high school.
A BCHS student alleged that during lunch an unidentified black male gave her approximately three pieces of candy. Knowing the candy was laced, the student consumed the candy along with other students. After her legs began to feel numb and she felt sluggish, the student went out to the parking lot and sat in her vehicle until classes were finished, the official incident report reads. After other students noticed her “strange behavior,” the student’s mother drove her to Burke Health where a urinalysis tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
