The Southeast District 4-H Cotton Boll and Consumer Judging Contest teaches students to make good decisions when spending money on everyday items, and helps them appreciate one of Georgia’s top crops – cotton! At the contest, students place classes made up of four products. This year, the products included athlete pants, backpacks, fast food breakfast, and electronic tables. Once each class is placed, students must give oral reasons to defend their placings. Additionally, each team member had to prepare and present a commercial advertising cotton. The Junior Team placed 2nd in the contest, Lucy Lane placed 2nd high individual in placings and reasons and Macy Doyen earned 1st place high individual in commercial presentation! Team members included: Macie Davis, Macy Doyen, Liam Edenfield, Lucy Lane, Jonathan Brown, Emme Chance, Sarah Beth Coble, Maggie Lane, Betsy Murray, Madison Quick, and Mallorie Watson. Emmaline Cunningham represented Burke county senior team.
