Center for New Beginnings gets $10,000 to help youth

The Center for New Beginnings was among 32 “deserving organizations” in the CSRA to receive grants for “meeting the pressing and changing community needs” and “improving the quality of life for the individuals they serve.”

The center received a $10,000 grant from The Community Foundation for the Central Savannah River Area to help provide counseling, tutor- ing and support for Burke County children with special needs.

The Center for New Beginnings is a non-profit, faithbased organization that offers speech, occupational and physical therapy, among other services, to children with autism and other behavioral or educational concerns. The center also provides support services to parents and family members.

The collective $373,000 the community foundation distributed in grants came from an unrestricted fund which is supported by the Augusta National Golf Club.

The Center for New Beginnings, which is located on Liberty Street in Waynesboro, was selected by 16 panels of more than 117 area leaders, based on its accomplishments and contributions to the community. Besides grants, the organization relies on private donations and fundraising to provide local services.
