The Burke County Emergency Management Agency responded to 135 patients’ calls during the week ending May 22. Of those, 91 resulted in transports, including 48 to Augusta hospitals and two to other out-of-county hospitals. Fifty one of the transports were determined to be emergencies and 40 were non-emergent.

The agency also answered 26 fire calls during the week. They included two false alarms, one fire/smoke alarm, one power line down, 10 rescues, six trees down, two woods fires, two public service calls and one unspecified call.
