Bands members from Burke County High School made music in the Big Apple.
The students, their directors and a number of chaperones spent four days taking in the sights of NewYork City and also performed on the deck of the aircraft carrier Intrepid, which is docked in the New York Harbor.
The trip gave many of the students their first experiences at Ground Zero, the Statue of Liberty, in Times Square, Little Italy, Rockefeller Center, Ellis Island and other iconic sites around the city.
Band director Charles Westman called the trip an amazing success.
“I feel certain that our kids learned a lot and will remember this trip for many years,” he said, thanking administrators and the Board of Education for their support of the experience.
