Brunch honors local teens

Communities In Schools of Burke County-Family Connection, Inc. (CISBC-FC) hosted a brunch Saturday, April 2, 2022, to celebrate 16 Burke County teens who completed the Resilient Teens Initiative. The mission of Resilient Teens is to prepare the 14 Georgia counties of the Central Savannah River Area to help address Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), supporting resilience and trauma informed care in teenagers 13-18 years old. The program supports adolescents’ abilities to cultivate recovery and healing during and after difficult situations. “Each participant has spent one and a half hours every Monday for 8 weeks interacting with other participants from across our region, as well as being instructed by their Augusta University medical student facilitators. We hope that we have even more students willing to participate in the program during our fall cohort”, stated Teresa L. Carter, Executive Director of CISBC-FC. More information can be obtained by contacting Ms. Carter at 706-554-7213 or on the website www.resilientteens.org.
