
The Burke County Board of Commissioners honored the dispatchers who direct firefighters, police officers and EMS by proclaiming April 9-15, as National Public Safety Telecommunicators week.
Chairwoman Terri Lodge Kelly read an official proclamation during the Board of Commissioners meeting April 11, that honored 9-1-1 dispatchers for their compassion, understanding and professionalism during the last year.
“Whereas public safety telecommunicators are the first and most critical contact our citizens have with emergency services and whereas public safety telecommunicators are the single vital link for our police officers, firefighters and EMS by monitoring their activities by radio, providing them information and ensuring their safety…” she read.
