Aid to Aiken & beyond

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office staff chipped in to purchase 25 cases of water, along with crackers, to help residents in the flood ravaged areas of South Carolina. Deputies are working with the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, according to Chief Deputy Larry Lewis, and water and crackers are the most needed items at the time. Officers will be transporting a second load of supplies to Aiken County later this week, and are asking the community to help. Donations may be dropped off at the sheriff’s office on Highway 23, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. After hour donations may be left with the dispatcher.
