On Saturday, March 19 citizens and civic organizations came together for a city wide clean-up day, as part of the Waynesboro Clean & Beautiful Campaign. The event, which was sponsored by the City of Waynesboro and the Burke County Dream Team, started at 8 a.m. and collected about 30 bags of refuse and several piles of tree limbs.

Heatwole gets 40 years for child molestation
A Burke County father has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to molesting his 9 year-old daughter. Superior Court Judge Carl Brown sentenced 36 year-old Douglas Roy Heatwole to two consecutive 20 year prison terms and another 20 on probation. The Lady Bears are having a stellar tournament season. This past weekend they traveled to the Classic City for the Athens Classic (held at the UGA Golf Course) where they took 3rd place overall out of 12 competitors. The top scorer for that event was Dorminy Johnson, who tied for individual’s 5th place.
