A bigger and better CVS is set to go up after this lot and several adjoining ones are completely cleared. Operator Bobby Herron of Thompson Building Wrecking Company expected the South Liberty Street demolition to continue into this week. While no starting date has been issued for the new CVS construction, Waynesboro's building inspector, Lavern Martin, said the pharmacy chain has submitted plans for a building measuring just under 12,000 square feet with a drive-through. All four businesses formerly housed in the complex have found new homes. The Shivers group relocated just down the road at 316 South Liberty St. at the intersection of Legion Drive while The Mane Attraction has set up shop on South Liberty Street, next to Best Office Solutions. Affordable Insurance moved to the Wal-Mart complex at Hopkins Corner, and MCG Healthy Start is now housed in the Burke County Health Department.

Her sugary recreation of Williams Antiques, a historic Waynesboro home commonly known as The Bates House, won grand prize in the Augusta Museum of History's annual gingerbread house competition. The gingerbread houses were judged on overall appearance, originality, creativity, precision, difficulty and consistency of the historic theme. Mooney could not even begin to estimate the number of hours she spent working on her entry, but she said she started the process in August. The grand prize was $1,000, and the houses are currently collecting bids through a silent auction to benefit the museum.

Editor: I am writing this letter to encourage all voters of District 3 to vote for and support Lynn Crews in her runoff election for the Board of Education seat on Tuesday, Dec. 2. We need a Board of Education member who will make decisions based on what is best for students and the system as a whole. Mrs. Crews would be that kind of board member.

Comments from our readers: Hats off to the Bears for a great job this year! They not only had a phenomenal season, but so many of the players are incredible young men on and off the field. Waynesboro is so fortunate to be represented by such a wonderful group of players.

Our hearts were almost broken because we wanted you to stay. But, we saw you sleeping peacefully, free from pain. How could we wish you back with us, to suffer that again? It broke our hearts to loose you, but you did not go alone; For part of us went with you when God called you home. We love you and miss you. Mom, Dad and Solomon

They'll last almost a month in a fairly dark place. While it is in the dark, water only when the soil is very dry. You should not fertilize it. Over watering or fertilizing your plants during the holidays is the most common cause of rapid death.

Owner Arvil Holt gave the students an overview of what a fourth grader had to do at home each day. After learning about the chores they were expected to do, the students marched into the schoolhouse, made their manners to Mr. Holt's wife, Geraldine, said the Pledge of Allegiance to the 1912 flag without the words "under God," recited the Lord's Prayer, and sang "My Country Tis of Thee." Mrs. Holt then divided the students into groups who ciphered math problems on real slate boards, practiced handwriting with quills and ink, and recited their reading lesson to the teacher. At lunch the children walked on stilts, played "The Flying Dutchman" and practiced some of the chores Mr. Holt explained earlier. Above, Hayley Parker gets a hand from teacher Mary Land as she saw logs for the fire used to boil water and wash clothes.
