Ingevity to award $10,000 in scholarships

DIANA ROYAL

Five high school seniors from the CSRA have a chance to earn $2,000 scholarships from Ingevity Corporation.

The company announced this week that applications are now available for the Ingevity Leader Scholarship, an achievement based scholarship that recognizes students for their outstanding leadership, commitment to excellence and impact in not just their schools but their communities as well.

Both Burke County High School and Edmund Burke Academy have been selected as eligible schools, as have T.W. Josey, Cross Creek, Evans, Grovetown and Jefferson County high schools and Thomas Jefferson Academy. One scholarship is open to the child or dependent of a current Ingevity employee, regardless of which school the child attends, while another is open to candidates who plan to attend trade school. One scholarship will also be presented to a student pursuing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) major, and the final two are open to all qualifying students.

To apply, students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher (as of the end of the first semester/December 2018) and must have plans to attend a higher education institute, whether that be trade school, community college or a traditional four-year university, and have proof of acceptance.

The application deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, April 5. All forms must be filled out and submitted electronically. Guidance counselors at eligible schools have the form, which is also available by emailing PurCellScholarships@ingevity.com.
