Wimberly Gala is Saturday

DIANA ROYAL

It may not be Fat Tuesday, but this weekend marks one of the largest food celebrations of the year.

A Taste of Burke County, the Wimberly House Ministries’ annual fundraiser, will be in full swing on Saturday, with some of the best dishes around being served up at the Mardis Gras-themed event. In addition to the food fare and delicious desserts, patrons will have the opportunity to bid on items in both live and silent auctions while they dance the night away.

The gala will be held at First Liberty Market in Downtown Waynesboro, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 9. Tickets are still available: they are $50 in advance for individuals and will be $60 at the door. Rates for corporate sponsors are also available.

This year there are 16 restaurants, caterers and local food gurus on the menu including Burke Perk, Byne’s Blueberry Farm, Camino Real, Country Boys Cooking, Delmac, Dye’s Catering, Finely Seasoned Catering, Fish Eye Grill, Fuji, Good Day CafĂ©, Honey Catering, JJ’s Crazy Nuts, Lakeview Restaurant, Paulette’s Fine Food, Pineland Bakery and Wingin Out. The ministry relies on this fundraiser, which netted more than $40,000 last year, to provide an array of services to the local community.
