The annual Martin Luther King Jr. parade/march will be held this Saturday, Jan. 19, beginning at 1 p.m. This year’s theme is “Dream the Impossible Dream.” The march will begin along Brentwood Drive in Waynesboro and will continue down North Liberty Street to Pauline Jenkins Street (West Ninth Street), then MLK Drive and will culminate at CSRA EOA Burke County Head Start Center, located on College Street. A program at the Head Start Center will immediately follow, and refreshments will be served.

Freedom School, conducted by the Burke County Sapphirettes, will be held on Monday, Jan. 21, from 10 a.m. to noon at the old Blakeney School, located at 518 College St., in Waynesboro. The theme is “The Way We Were: Freedom Summer 1964,” and the program is open to the public, children aged 5-17 and adults.
