Louis Melvin Ramsey

Waynesboro, Ga. – Entered into rest on Thursday, January 3, 2019, Mr. Louis Melvin Ramsey, age 86.

He was a native of the State of Kentucky and was a highly decorated retired sergeant with 26 years of service in the United States Army. He was the recipient of many medals and commendations including the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (5th award), National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Medical Badge and the U.S. Army Recruiter Badge among others.

Mr. Ramsey is survived by his wife Ernestine Rommersbach Ramsey of Waynesboro; one daughter, Valerie Ramsey Spencer (Roger) of Waynesboro; one granddaughter, Meghan Leigh Spencer of Atlanta; one brother, Alan Ramsey; and three sisters, Francis Harper of Tennessee, Betty Campbell of Kentucky and Rose Ramsey of Tennessee.

Mr. Ramsey was preceded in death by a grandson, Roger Edward Spencer, III and two sisters, Marie Overbay and Leona Davis.

A memorial service with full military honors was held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Burke Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 842 Liberty Street, Waynesboro, Ga.
