HalloWING Bash to support Chamber

DIANA ROYAL

Big time celebrities were there last year – Sonny and Cher, Mel and Flo, Guns ‘N’ Roses band members, Hugh Hefner. Even some cowboys and convicts showed up. There’s no telling who will be waiting tables for the 2018 shindig.

The Burke County Chamber of Commerce’s annual HalloWING Bash is on the books for Oct. 18, and board members are ready to serve up Burke Perk’s famous chicken wings while dressed up as some of the kookiest and spookiest characters around.

Now in its second year, the Halloween celebration is a way to promote the Chamber while also helping put some change in the organization’s coffers.

“This event is a great opportunity for our board members to interact with the community in a fun way while raising funds to benefit the Chamber,” said Ashley Roberts, who serves as the Chamber’s executive director. She added that proceeds from wing sales and all tips will benefit the Chamber directly and many of its community-oriented activities, like the annual golf tournament, social gatherings at member businesses and legislative meetings to name a few.

“Join us for a fun night,” Roberts said. “We’ll have our Halloween playlist going while we serve you great food. And don’t forget to wear your costumes.”
