Two arrested after burglarizing neighbor

A man and woman are in custody after cleaning out a neighbor’s home in a burglary last week.

On Thursday, Sept. 20, at about 1 p.m., investigators with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office went to 179 Gregory Drive in response to a call about a burglary at the residence.

Investigators met with the victims and saw extensive damage to the inside of the residence. The victims told officers that most of their property that was inside the home had been stolen and gave detailed information concerning it.

The officers found a path the suspects had taken from the residence and located a camper at 157 Gregory Drive (which is approximately 50 feet through the woods) where some of the items from their house were found in the yard. A search warrant for the suspect’s residence and sheds on the property was completed and executed, and the victims’ household items, including furniture, clothes, collectibles, photographs, tools and miscellaneous paperwork, were all located on the property and returned to the victims.

Investigators arrested Cynthia Jean Boyd, 59, and Todd Morgan Yearty, 52. Both face felony charges of burglary in the first degree and are currently in custody at the Burke County Detention Center.
