What's Next?


The Georgia National Fair will raffle a family-pack of four tickets to attend the event, which will be held in Perry Oct. 4-14. To enter the drawing, stop by the Burke County Public Library now through Sept. 30, and enter your name at the circulation desk. The final drawing will be held Monday, Oct. 1.


CSRA College Night will be held at the James Brown Arena in Downtown Augusta from 5-8:30 p.m. The event is for 11th and 12th grade students, parents and anyone interested in college. Activities include scholarship drawings, financial aid seminars, essay writing seminars, counseling center, career exploration center, time management and more. More than 130 colleges and universities will be represented. The event is free and open to the public.

The regular meeting of the Brier Creek Soil and Water Conservation District will be at 1 p.m. in the Public Meeting Room of the Burke County Office Complex (NRCS & Extension Office) located on 715 West 6th Street, Waynesboro, Georgia 30830. For additional information, Please call 706-551-3584.


It’s time to kickoff fall sports season! The Burke County Recreation Department is hosting a Fall Ball Kickoff from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to commemorate the opening seasons of baseball, football, soccer and cheerleading. This event is open to all fall sports participants, their families and team sponsors. There will be inflatables, face painting, autographs with Jonathan Broxton and much more.


A viewing of the movie “Jumanji” will be held at the Burke County Public Library from 2:15-4:15 p.m. Popcorn and drinks will be served. The film is rated PG-13.


A scholarship workshop for Cohort 2019 students and parents will be held 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Burke County High School media center.
