Baseball players, families honored at senior night

The Burke County High School varsity baseball team celebrated Senior Night on Monday, April 9. Coach Billy Marchman said it was a wonderful celebration shared with five special families who mean much to the success of the program at BCHS. Marchman said that during their four years as Bear baseball players, they have contributed in many ways that resulted in 52 wins so far with a few more to play this season. “We celebrate Senior Night for the parents of our players to give them a pat on the back for all the sacrifices they made throughout the years of a little boy playing T-ball to a young man competing for region championships,” Marchman said. “Baseball parents have long spring and summer months with expenses, travel and other accommodations throughout a child’s baseball career, so for one evening we were able to just say thank you for the guidance and support of helping achieve many life goals.” Pictured, from left, are Houston Copeland, Bill Knight, Marchman, George McKenzie, JT Philpott and Drew Torek.
