Shop, Shuck and Shag is this Saturday

DIANA ROYAL

The oysters are back, but Downtown Waynesboro is the real pearl.

This Saturday, April 14, the Downtown Development Authority will host its second annual Shop, Shuck and Shag Downtown Oyster Roast, with proceeds benefiting the Inside- Out Grant program. According to organizers, Liberty Street will be closed down about an hour and a half before the event’s 4 p.m. start time, and throughout the day and into the night, attendees can buy oysters by the bucketful to help support downtown.

Local shops and eateries will also be open with special sales and delicious food. Local DJ Joe Jeselnik of DJ Productions will play an assortment of music, especially of the beach and shag variety, and attendees are encouraged to hit the asphalt dance floor to show off their moves. DDA Director Don Lively says there will be games and contests “and lots of fun things to do … this is Waynesboro. We know how to have a good time and how to celebrate this fine town.”
