Area Business to Expand into Waynesboro

ROY F. CHALKER JR.

Thomson-Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram- FIAT has announced plans to build a new dealership here. Waynesboro Chrysler- Dodge-Jeep-Ram will a be 13,000-square foot store with free Wi-Fi, a comfortable waiting area with free beverages and snacks and a child-friendly play area. According to a spokesperson for the company, the 7.5- acre lot, located just north of Waynesboro on U.S. Highway 25, will also include an eight-bay service department with equipment that can service all makes and models of vehicles.

Beth Grant, one of the owners of the company, said this week, "I had an employee tell me the other day that they had worked at other car dealerships where they never saw the owners. They never had a chance to sit down with the owner and resolve a problem. We're there every day at our dealership, and customers also get a direct link to the owners. That's what makes us so strong. If we had a family motto it would be, 'There is no replacement for hard work'. We're opening the Waynesboro location with the same drive and mentality. We can't wait to serve the Waynesboro area."

The Grant family opened their original Thomson location in 1992 after selling their Florida based Toyota dealership. They tripled their expected sales numbers in the first three months, Grant said, and within five years moved to their current 8-acre facility on Washington road near I-20 in Thomson.

Expected to employ over 50 people, the business is scheduled to open in the late summer or early fall. A groundbreaking at the new site will be held in a few weeks.
