FBC TO PRESENT 'A FESTIVAL OF LESSONS AND CAROLS'

First Baptist Church of Waynesboro will hold Lessons and Carols Sunday, December 10 at 6 p.m. at the church.

This traditional format is a service of scripture and supporting carols, having its origin on Christmas Eve 1880 in England. The original format has been adapted in that the musical selections are different each year, while including traditional favorites. The service will begin with the Handbell Choir ringing “O Holy Night” and “Carol of the Bells”. As the bells chime the hour the choir will process with the congregation joining in singing the beloved carol “O Come All Ye Faithful”.

Director Jean Williams said, "The focal point of the entire service is unfolding the great drama of redemption. This drama begins with Genesis and is unfolded throughout all sacred Scripture to communicate the one central and critical theme of the Bible: God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself."

She added that, "First Baptist Church invites the public to join them to reflect together through the combination of the reading of the Scripture and beautiful music the great love that God has for us as revealed in the gift of His Son Jesus."

Jean Barefield and Amy Thomas will lead worship services. Contact the church at 706-554-5156 for more information.
