Spartans start off season 2-0

The Spartans of Edmund Burke Academy hosted the Eagles of Brentwood School on Monday Nov. 20, hoping to snag their second win of the season. The Spartans came out victorious with a score of 52-33.

The Eagles started out strong in the first quarter, but the Spartans fought back going on a 29-6 run, leading them to the win. The Spartans had 34 total rebounds, 14 being offensive.

Senior Luke Mead led his team in offense with 20 points. Junior Trent Harris had 14 points for the Spartans followed by sophomore Tripp Parker who had 7. Defensively, Harris led the team, bringing down 9 rebounds for the Spartans.

“I’m very proud of the guys’ effort on both offense and defense. Brentwood came out strong, but the guys didn’t give which lead us to our win,” commented Coach Chance Cofield. “I am very proud of Mead and Harris for again stepping up and scoring thirty-four of our fifty-two points. We will have to play our best game on Thursday against Augusta Christian. They have a strong post, who is sixsix and averaging twenty-eight points a game.”

The Spartans will play in the Augusta Prep Garden City Classic Tournament held Nov. 30-Dec. 2. They face the Lions of Augusta Christian on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m.
