Young boy is beaten, robbed

ROY F. CHALKER JR.

Three suspects are in custody after a young boy was beaten and robbed Monday, Nov. 20.

According to Waynesboro Police Department spokesman Lt. Tommy L. Henderson, at a little before 6 p.m. the juvenile was walking to the city park on west Sixth Street when a white Dodge Charger pulled up. He heard one of the suspects say, "That's him, let's jump him."

The boy, who was about to be picked up by his basketball coach, started to run but fell and was attacked by the older men. They kicked and hit him and removed his cell phone from his pocket.

Police were called and, following the victim's descriptions, the suspects were located. Two of the men, Kahlil Kader, 23, and Marquavious Marshall, 17, are being held in the Burke County Jail on robbery charges. A third was released to his parent after a juvenile petition was filed with the Department of Juvenile Justice.
