The Lady Spartans (0-1) started their season off with a tough loss of 9-7 as they played the Brentwood Lady Eagles on Monday, Aug. 7.

“It’s a start. The effort was great, but we have a lot of things to work on. We aren’t very happy with the loss but we are going to work hard and get better," commented head coach Larry Keller. “I’m pleased with the effort from a lot of people, but we are going to continue working on simple skills such as batting and communicating with each other to make the team better.”

Eighth-grader Nora Kate Williams was the leading pitcher and sophomore Claudia Post led the team in offense going 2-4 from the plate. Juniors Rylee Cook and Marley Knight also had great performances to start off the season.

The Lady Spartans traveled to Louisville to play the Lady Jaguars of Thomas Jefferson Academy on Tuesday, but stats were not available at press time.

They’ll face David Emanuel Academy this Thursday, Aug. 10, at home at 4 p.m.
