Sheriff to sponsor Explorer post here

Burke County Sheriff Alfonzo Williams is sponsoring the creation of a Law Enforcement Explorers chapter here. Open house for the project will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, at the Sheriff's Office on Highway 24 South.

The purpose of the program, which is a part of the Boy Scouts of America, is to give young men and women a chance to explore a career in law enforcement. Enrollment is open to all high school students.

Subjects covered by the program may include crime scene investigation, tactical training, radio procedure and patrol ride-alongs.

There is no charge for registration in the program.
