Lenten Services

The Burke Black Churches Benevolent Association will observe the 40-day Lenten season with 7 p.m. services weekly, beginning on Ash Wednesday. Each service is hosted by a different church and led by a guest pastor from another.

March 29: Thankful Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Smith of Palmer Grove Baptist Church

April 5: Haven Munnerlyn United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Boyd of Forest Hill Missionary Baptist Church

April 12: Thomas Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. William C. McFarlin of Neely Grove Christian Methodist Episcopal Church

Easter Sunday, April 16 – 7 a.m.: Phillip Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Leroy Jordan, Jr. of Bark Camp Baptist Church

Spring Revival

Second McCannan Baptist Church will hold its annual Spring Revival 7:30 p.m. nightly, March 27-29. Guest speaker will be the Bishop Willie Jones, pastor of Gospel Explosion Outreach Ministries, Sardis. Everyone is invited.

Youth Revival

Pine Hill Baptist Church will hold its Youth Revival 7:30 p.m., nightly, March 28-30. The Rev. Cason of Watkinsville Baptist Church will be guest speaker. The Youth Anniversary will be celebrated on Sunday, April 2. The public is invited.

Phillip Grove Baptist

Phillip Grove Baptist Church will hold its annual Spring Revival 7 p.m. nightly March 29-31. Public is invited.

Ward Grove Baptist

Ward Grove Baptist Church will hold its annual Spring Revival 7:30 p.m. nightly March 29-31. Guest speaker will be Rev. Eric Cooper, pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Millen and St. John Baptist Church in Oliver. Public is invited.

Also, Ward Grove will celebrate its Men & Women Day program Sunday, April 2, beginning with Sunday School at 10:45 a.m. followed with Worship service at 11:30 a.m. Sis Bobbie Hones of Fellowship Baptist will serve as worship leader. The public is invited.

Women’s Conference

First Baptist Church of Gough will hold its Women’s Conference 10 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 1 Guest speaker will be Minister Bobbie Boyd, pastor of Wren Chapel, Wrens. The public is invited.

Pre-Easter Program

McKinnie Branch Baptist Church will host its pre-Easter program, “Mislead” Sunday April 2. Sunday School will begin at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited.

10th Pastoral Anniversary

Jones Grove Baptist Church will celebrate its 10th Pastoral Anniversary for the Rev. Melvin Habersham and First Lady Elmarie Habersham 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 2. The public is invited.

Men and Women’s Day

McElmurray Grove Baptist Church will hold its Men and Women’s Day 11 a.m. Sunday, April 2. Sunday School will begin at 10:15 a.m. The Rev. Nathaniel Howard Jr., pastor, invites the public.

Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Men and Women’s Day 11 a.m. Sunday, April 2. Family and Friends Day

Murphy Ebenezer Baptist Church will hold its annual Family and Friends Day 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 2. The worship leaders will be Deacon Levi Dock of Mills Grove Baptist Church and Sis. Ada Dock of Lawton Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Frank Bedford will be in charge of the service. The public is invited.

Youth Revival

McElmurray Grove Baptist Church will host its Youth Revival for the Sunday School Training Union 7:30 p.m., nightly, April 3-5. Monday night: McElmurray, Thomas Grove and St. Mary’s youth will be in charge of the service. Minister Elaine Stokes will deliver the sermon. Tuesday night: Fairfield and Daniel Grove youth will be in charge of the service. The Rev. John Lumpkin will deliver the sermon. Wednesday night: Allen Chapel and Ebenezer youth will be in charge of the service. The Rev. Claude Howard will deliver the sermon. The Rev. Nathaniel Howard Jr., pastor, invites the public.

Spring Revival

Thomas Grove Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual Spring Revival 7 p.m. nightly, April 3-7. Guest minister for the week will be the Rev. Jimmy McCullough III, pastor of Ways Grove Baptist Church in Stellaville. The Rev. Willie B. Tomlin, pastor, and church family invites the public.

Ordination Service

Victory Apostalic Church, 479 East 8th St., Waynesboro, will hold its Ordination Service Watina Whitaker 4 p.m. Sunday, April 9. Watina has been called into a ministry of hurting women. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walker. The Rev. Johnny Toby invites the public.

Appreciation program

Watkinsville Baptist Church will celebrate the first Appreciation of Minister Felicia Lambert 2 p.m. Sunday, April 9.Taking part in the appreciation service will be Pastor David Kemp and the Rock Creek Baptist Church, along with Pastor Vivian Hambrick. Pastor Tommy Ingram will make a special appearance. Dr. Alfred Cason invites the public.

150th Church Anniversary

Carswell Grove Baptist Church,1365 Big Buckhead, Perkins, will celebrate its 150th Church Anniversary April 9. Sunday School will begin at 9 a.m. followed by Worship at 10 a.m. Worship leader will be Sis. Bessie Whipple and the Rev. Antonio Bush will deliver the sermon.

6th Pastoral Anniversary

Cornerstone Christian Center, 710 Stone Avenue, Waynesboro, will celebrate the 6th Pastoral Anniversary of Pastor Darius A. Roberson, 9 a.m. Sunday, April 9.

Pastoral Anniversary

Gordon Hill Baptist Church will celebrate the 26th anniversary of its pastor, the Rev. Berry Rogers, 2 p.m. Sunday, April 9. The Rev. Willie Givens along with members of One In Christ Baptist Church will be in charge of services. The public is invited.

Last Supper

Rosemont Baptist Church, 522 Highway 25 North, Waynesboro, will host a presentation by the Rosemont Men and Music Ministries, the Living Last Supper 6 p.m. Palm Sunday, April 9. It is a dramatic recreation of the Last Supper with Jesus and the Disciples as found in the Bible: Matthew 26:17-30, Luke 22:7-23, Mark 14:12-26. The setting takes us back to how the room may have been set up and as Jesus shares with his disciples, they all begin to wonder who the betrayer will be. The Last Supper Bible story teaches us about our commitment to Christ. It includes interesting points, a lesson, and a question for reflection. The public is invited. There is no admission charge.

McKinnie Branch Baptist

McKinnie Branch Baptist Church will hold its annual Spring Revival 7:30 p.m. nightly, April 11-13. Guest minister will be the Rev. Kenneth Griffin of Brennen Chapel. Guest choirs will be Spring Branch, Allen Chapel, Daniel Grove, Fairfield, Mt. Zion and Tabernacle (Tuesday); Palmer Gove, Fielding Spring, Murphy Ebenezer, Bottsford, Thompson Bridge and Corinth (Wednesday); Gordon Hill, Newness of Life, Third Chapel, William Grove, Brown Grove, Peel Grove and Raise Bridge (Thursday).

McKinnie Branch Baptist Church will celebrate its 61st Choir Anniversary 2 p.m. Sunday, April 16. The public is invited.

Sunday School Anniversary

McElmurray Grove Baptist Church will hold its Sunday School Anniversary 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 23. Special guests will be the Rev. James Lewis and the members of Second Bynes Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Nathaniel Howard Jr., pastor, invites the public.

Girls Lock-in

Cornerstone Christian Center, 710 Stone Avenue, Waynesboro, will host a Girls Lock-in 7 p.m. Friday, April 28. The girls will participate in classes on hair care, cooking & liturgical dance. Woman2Woman

The women of Cornerstone Christian Center, 710 Stone Avenue, Waynesboro, will be in charge of the service Sunday, April 30. The theme of the service is Woman2Woman: Answering the call of Titus 2 and will begin at 9 a.m. Everyone is asked to wear black and a pastel color of their choice.
