Sheriff addresses Rotarians
He said the addition of 30 new officers has enabled him to implement changes that might have otherwise taken years. “By bringing in experienced officers from the Augusta area, we have already seen a reduction in response times and other improvements in overall law enforcement.”
He told the group that the agency’s SWAT team actually consists of officers who perform other regular duties and are not exclusively used for special operations.
He also pointed out the seriousness of the drug problem in Burke County. “Most of the property and violent crimes here are drug-related,” he said, and added that his office would “be very aggressive in suppressing the drug problem here.”
He also told the club that there would be a new look for the agency, including new uniforms and, over time, a change in the colors of the patrol cars.
