The Spartans played the Eagles of David Emanuel Academy on Jan. 23, hoping to secure a win, but fell to the eagles with a score of 66-56. Sophomore Trent Harris led the team on the offensive end, scoring 14 points, followed by Junior Luke Mead with 11. Senior Nathan Mulling supported the team on the offensive end pulling down 6 rebounds for the Spartans; Mead had 5.

“DEA out hustled us,” said Head Coach Chance Cofield. “They got all the 50/50 balls. We just have to do a better job in that area if we are going to find success and secure the close wins.”

On Friday Jan. 27, the Spartans played region foe Frederica Academy but fell short against the Knights, 55-37. Leading scorer this game was Mead, who put up 14 points, followed by Mulling with 6. Mulling also supported the team defensively, pulling down 8 strong rebounds.

“We had a hard time scoring against this team. They have some very good athletes, and we are just going to have to continue to work hard if we want to win,” Coach Cofield said.

The Spartans also played the Crusaders of Trinity Christian School on Tuesday, but stats were not available at press time.

They will celebrate Senior Night Friday Feb. 3, 7:30 p.m. in Murray Gym against Bulloch Academy. The theme will be White Out. The Spartans also play Pinewood Academy on the road next Tuesday, Fed. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
