EBA Tennis Players Advance to State

The Edmund Burke Academy tennis team competed in the region tennis tournament on Monday April 11, in Statesboro.

There are five students who qualified for the state tournament.

Senior Jaimee Jenkins and sophomore Sydney Quick earned first place in doubles. Sophomore Connor Gandy earned 2nd place in singles. Senior Blake Williamson and junior Daniel Meeks earned 4th place in doubles.

The state tournament was played at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center on Monday, April 18th in Macon, but results were not available at press time.

The boys tennis team also finished in 2nd place in region with a 9-1 record. This secured their spot in the state team tournament in Macon. The boys will compete at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center on Thursday, April 21.

“My first year as the head coach of the boys and girls tennis team has been very rewarding and a highlight of my first year at Edmund Burke Acad- emy.” said Head Tennis Coach Elyse Nelson. She went on to say, "The talent and leadership on the team is exceptional and I look forward to many more successful seasons.”
