What's Next?


SGA’s Annual Title I Parent Meeting will be held, 5 p.m., for the purpose of providing an overview of Title I services available to students and parents. A second meeting will be held, 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20. Attendance of parents/ guardians is requested at one of the two meetings in order to become more knowledgeable of the Title I Programs as well as the resources available to improve the academic success of your child.


A Benefit Chicken Dinner Sale will be hosted by Antioch Rock Creek Baptist Church, 11 a.m.-until, Saturday, Oct. 17 in front of O’Reilly Auto Parts at 1225 Liberty St., Waynesboro. Plates are $7 and include potato salad, bread and cake. All proceeds benefit the Pastor’s Aide Ministry.

Free lunch will be served, 11:30 a.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Jones Avenue in Waynesboro. Bags of groceries will also be available. Anyone needing a meal is welcome.


The Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and Health Fair will be held, 10 a.m., at Burke Medical Center in Waynesboro.

A Community Awareness Forum, sponsored by Burke Black Churches Benevolent Association, Burke County Improvement Association and the NAACP, will be held, 9 a.m., at Mt. Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church on West Seventh Street in Waynesboro.


Burke County Middle School’s 21st Century Afterschool Program will host an open house event including food, activities and entertainment, 4-6 p.m. The event will highlight the activities provided for students in the program; showcase student talent in theater, dance and music; and offer a chance to see STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) projects created during the program. The event will be held at BCMS (356 Southside Drive, Waynesboro).


We welcome non-profit Burke County groups hosting free public events to send their announcements. A fundraising event with an admission fee may be included for $10 per week, paid in advance. Email TrueCitizenNews@live.com. Deadline is noon Thursday.
